exordium europae
committee description
Exordium Europae (EE) is a special forum set during the middle 17th century at the historical end of the Thirty Years’ War, which decimated Europe as it caused approximately 8 million deaths. The purpose of this committee is to reenact the process of the Peace of Westphalia, which brought peace to the Holy Roman Empire by ending the Thirty Years’ War through the signing of peace treaties among different parties to conflict, while also being cited as the first instance in which the modern conception of sovereignty manifested. Delegates, who will represent the various parties to conflict, states, regions and political entities involved in the war, will be expected to conduct negotiations, peace talks, and diplomatic actions to bring about peace in Europe, while also adhering to their vested interests, which may entail sabotage and further conflict.
